International Work-Stay Information
Welcome to Sungoma
Russell at Sungoma is excited to offer short-term ‘work-stay’ opportunities for International travellers at Sungoma, a lovely 29-acre property in the Cowichan Valley and home to a diverse community of people that include numerous artists, musicians, farmers and others.
Located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, the Cowichan Valley is on the edge of world-renowned areas of pristine wilderness and is centrally located making it a wonderful launching pad for numerous day or overnight trips on Vancouver Island.
No matter your interests, be it exploring cultural connections and wilderness adventures or savoring local culinary delights and craft breweries or wineries; or taking in local arts and music the Cowichan Valley is sure to satisfy!
Sungoma is in the process of undertaking restoration and further development of food garden beds, regaining control of and managing overgrown vegetation; and numerous other repair and maintenance projects and would love to host some International ‘helping hands’.
Sungoma would provide:
A cozy, unique self- catering accommodation that can easily host from 3-5 people; with access to a shared bathroom shower facilities, a small prep kitchen and BBQ station.
- Food supplied
- Linen and Bedding
- Laundry facility on property
- Parking
- Social Activities
Work-stay Workers would Provide:
In return the expectation would be 5 hours per day 5 days per week, working on assigned projects under a team lead.
Duties could include but may not be limited to the following projects:
- Rebuilding of the Sungoma Stage & Kitchen
- Greenhouse repair and completion
- Revitalizing food gardens and building deer fencing
- Vegetation control and landscape maintenance
- Various other small handy-person projects
